Latest Modus Operandi and tips:

  • Ensure that all doors are locked at all times and close windows when not at home.
  • Dogs are a good deterrent and can also provide an early warning of nearby strangers
  • Ensure that tools such as axes, spades, picks etc. that can be used in an attack are locked away when they are not in use.
  • When using a torch, try not to give your position away.
  • If you suspect something amiss when arriving home e.g. dogs do not greet, do not enter, contact your security provider for a perimeter check.
  • Good relationships with neighbours provide support and assistance in times of need.
  • Identify a safe room in your house.
  • Report suspicious behaviour to your security provider and the South African Police Service.
  • Clear the areas around your gates and eliminate hiding places.
  • Ensure that your employees are aware of safety tips and practise good security procedures.
  • Keep copies of all employees ID document.
  • Do not employ casual workers without a reference.

Check your alarm system and attend to low battery warnings immediately. A panic signal will not be received if the system battery is not sufficiently charged.
