Potchefstroom - Five suspects were arrested by Letlhabile police for robbery of cigarettes from a British American Tobacco van yesterday, 15 October 2015.
The incident happened in Letlhabile near Brits where a group of heavily armed men were driving in two vehicles and stopped the delivery van. They threatened the driver and loaded cigarettes into their vehicle then sped off.
The suspects were traced by Pretoria Flying Squad and Silverton Police. The suspects were stopped and apprehended in Silverton.
Cigarettes worth thousands and a handgun were confiscated.
They will appear in the Brits Magistrates’ Court soon for robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm.
Investigation continues.
